Garlic and Butter Flatbread
Ingredients:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 3/4 cup warm water
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons butter, melted
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley (optional)
- Salt and pepper, to taste
Instructions:
- Prepare the dough:
In a large bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and salt.
Add the warm water and olive oil. Mix until a soft dough forms.
Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 5 minutes, until smooth and elastic.
- Rest the dough:
Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rest for 15–20 minutes.
This helps make the flatbread softer.
- Prepare the garlic butter:
In a small bowl, mix the melted butter with minced garlic and parsley (if using).
Season with a little salt and pepper.
- Shape the flatbreads:
Divide the dough into 6–8 equal pieces.
Roll each piece into a ball, then flatten it into a thin circle or oval using a rolling pin.
- Cook the flatbread:
Heat a non-stick skillet or pan over medium heat.
Cook each flatbread for about 1–2 minutes per side, or until golden brown spots appear.
Adjust the heat as needed so they don’t burn.
- Brush with garlic butter:
As soon as each flatbread comes off the pan, brush it generously with the garlic butter mixture.
Stack them on a plate and cover with a clean towel to keep them warm and soft.
- Serve:
Serve warm as a side to soups, curries, or grilled dishes — or enjoy on its own!
