Ingredients

For the Cake:

1 cup all-purpose flour

1 tsp baking powder

1/4 tsp salt

4 large eggs, separated

3/4 cup sugar

1/2 cup milk

1/4 cup melted butter

1 tsp vanilla extract

For the Whipped Topping:

1 1/2 cups heavy cream

1/3 cup powdered sugar

1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease an 8-inch round cake pan.

Sift together flour, baking powder, and salt in a bowl.

Beat egg yolks with sugar until thick and pale. Mix in milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract. Gradually add the dry ingredients.

Whip egg whites to stiff peaks and gently fold into the batter. Pour into the prepared pan.

Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Let cool completely.

For the topping, whip heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until fluffy. Spread over the cooled cake.
