Ingredients (Serves 2)

  • 300g (10 oz) sushi-grade fresh tuna, finely diced
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon fresh lime juice
  • 1 teaspoon honey (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon finely diced red onion
  • 1 tablespoon diced cucumber or mango
  • 1 small red chili, thinly sliced
  • 1 teaspoon sesame seeds
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper (to taste)
  • Fresh cilantro (for garnish)
  • Crispy tortilla chips or wonton chips (for serving)

Instructions

1. Prepare the Tuna

Using a sharp knife, finely dice the sushi-grade tuna into small, even cubes.
Keep it chilled until ready to mix.

2. Make the Dressing

In a bowl, whisk together soy sauce, sesame oil, lime juice, and honey.
Adjust seasoning with salt and pepper if needed.

3. Combine

Gently fold the diced tuna with red onion, cucumber (or mango), chili, and sesame seeds.
Pour the dressing over the tuna mixture and mix carefully to avoid breaking the cubes.

4. Shape the Tartare

Place a round mold on a serving plate.
Fill it with the tuna mixture and gently press down.
Carefully remove the mold to keep a clean, restaurant-style shape.

5. Garnish & Serve

Top with fresh cilantro and extra chili slices.
Serve immediately with crispy chips on the side.
