Ingredients:
For the Apple Filling:
6 medium apples (Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, or your favorite variety), peeled, cored, and sliced
1/4 cup granulated sugar
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
For the Crumble Topping:
1 cup old-fashioned rolled oats
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
Instructions:
Prepare the Apples : Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). In a large mixing bowl, toss the sliced apples with granulated sugar, brown sugar, lemon juice, cinnamon, nutmeg, and flour until evenly coated. Spread the apple mixture into an 8×8-inch baking dish or a pie plate, creating an even layer.
Make the Crumble Topping : In another bowl, combine the oats, flour, brown sugar, salt, and cinnamon. Add the cold, cubed butter and use your fingers or a pastry cutter to work it into the dry ingredients until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
Assemble and Bake : Sprinkle the crumble topping evenly over the apples, covering them completely. Place the baking dish on a sheet pan to catch any drips, then bake in the preheated oven for 35-40 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the apple filling is bubbling around the edges.
Cool and Serve : Allow the crumble to cool for 10-15 minutes before serving. Pair each serving with a dollop of whipped cream or a scoop of vanilla ice cream for an extra touch of indulgence.
