🔥 I will probably stop posting if there is no interaction on this post… BUT I had to share this anyway because it’s just too good to keep to myself! 😅
If you love quick, flavour-packed meals that taste like they came straight from your favorite Chinese takeout spot, then this Sizzling Chinese Pepper Steak with Onions is going to be your new obsession. 😍🥢

This dish brings back so many memories for me — the sound of the skillet sizzling, the aroma of garlic and fresh peppers filling the kitchen, and that first juicy bite of tender steak coated in rich, glossy sauce. It’s the kind of recipe that tastes like comfort, but looks like you spent hours making it… even though it comes together in less than 20 minutes! 🙌

What I love most about this recipe is how simple, budget-friendly, and absolutely foolproof it is. The steak cooks up melt-in-your-mouth tender, the onions get perfectly caramelized, and the sauce… oh my goodness, the sauce! Thick, savory, slightly sweet, with just the right kick of pepper — exactly how pepper steak should taste. 🌶️🥩

If you’ve been craving a homemade version that tastes BETTER than takeout, this is it. This is the one.
Trust me… once you try it, you’ll wonder why you ever ordered out. 😉

⭐ INGREDIENTS

1 lb (450g) beef sirloin or flank steak, thinly sliced

1 large onion, sliced

1 green bell pepper, sliced

1 red bell pepper, sliced

3 cloves garlic, minced

2 tbsp soy sauce

1 tbsp oyster sauce

1 tbsp cornstarch

1 tsp black pepper (fresh cracked if possible!)

1 tbsp oil

Optional: ginger, sesame seeds, chili flakes

⭐ DIRECTIONS

  1. In a bowl, toss the sliced steak with soy sauce, cornstarch, and a pinch of pepper. Let it sit for 5–10 minutes.
  2. Heat oil in a hot skillet. Add steak and cook until browned — don’t overcook! Remove and set aside.
  3. In the same pan, add onions and peppers. Sauté until soft and slightly charred.
  4. Add garlic and stir for 30 seconds.
  5. Add the steak back in, pour in oyster sauce, add more black pepper, and mix everything together until coated and sizzling.
  6. Serve hot over rice or noodles.

🥢 TIP: Freeze the steak for 15 minutes before slicing — it makes the pieces super thin and tender!
